Bath Iron Works Maintenance Dredging

Bath Iron Works Maintenance Dredging

Location: 2013

Date: Bath, ME

Cashman was contracted to dredge and then dispose of ~45,000 yd^3 of dredge spoils from the BIW dry-dock sinking basin. The sinking basin was dredged to -70 feet to enable BIW to launch new ships. The Kennebec River has swift currents and tide variations of up to 10 feet. Because of the depth of the project and river conditions, the dredge F.J. Belesimo operated on wires and anchors. The project was completed ahead of schedule despite challenging weather conditions.
