In this pilot project, Cashman’s dredge Wood I removed ~ 5,000 yd^3 of sediments unsuitable for open water disposal. The sediments were excavated using an 8-CY “Cable Arm” environmental clamshell style bucket outfitted with a pressure transducer to maintain the proper bucket depth tolerances. The sedimenets were loaded into 3,000-CY hopper scows and transported to a facility located on the Raritan River in Keasbey, NJ for off-loading and storage. The facility held the materials for future remediation technology trials aimed at determining the optimal method for processing contaminated sediments.
