Like the 2011-13 project, this project’s goal was to deepen the Arthur Kill Channel in order to allow the safe and economical passage of the newest container ships. This effort drilled and blasted 2.1 million SF of rock and dredged 2.9 million yd^3 of silt, clay, sand, and blasted rock. Suitable materials were processed and transported to the HARS site, and unsuitable materials were transported to a UDF for beneficial reuse. During this project, Cashman Dredging installed and monitored 1,500 feet of silt curtain as part of a USACE pilot study program.
